Thomas (Wayne) Rush, 83, of Orange Park, Florida gained his wings on January 05, 2021. Born in Sycamore, Georgia February 24, 1937. He graduated from Sycamore High School in 1955, participated in many school activities. The Glee Club, The School Quartet, 4-H Club, Hi-Y, and basketball. But, music was his passion.

After graduation (Wayne) enlisted in the armed forces on the buddy system. CW2 Thomas W Rush proudly served his country for 20 years in the United States Army. Thomas was deployed 3 times. Korea 1961, Vietnam 1967-1968. Last overseas deployment was Vietnam 1971-1972. Service awards include: Bronze Star Medal w/Oak Leaf Cluster &” V” Device; Meritorious Unit Commendation; Good Conduct Medal w/Clasp, Bronze, 4 Loops; National Defense Service Medal; Army Aviator Badge; Aircraft Crewman Badge; Vietnam Service Medal w/1 Silver & 4 Bronze Service Stars; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry w/Palm. Thomas was a lifetime member of VHPA- Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association.

After retirement he pursued his passion. He was raised listening to and singing gospel music. The music he wrote and performed was influenced by those grass roots. He also enjoyed golfing, traveling and jamming with his friends. His heart was pure and had such an infectious smile. Thomas formed a multitude of lifelong friendships. In 2010 he moved to Florida to be near his daughter.

Thomas is survived by his only child, Rhonda Rush of Orange Park, Florida. Other survivors include Judy Kendrick (Sister-in-law) Ashburn, Georgia; Kimberly Bullington (Niece) Ashburn, Georgia; Michael Kendrick (Nephew), Ashburn, Georgia; and many cousins.

In honoring his wishes, memorialization is by cremation. Thomas will be laid to rest at 2:00 PM on Friday February 5, 2021 at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
