Cited in General Orders No. 5, Headquarters, 1st Infantry Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, AEF, Selters, Germany 1 June 1919; "for gallant conduct and self-sacrificing spirit displayed during the battles of Cantigny defensive; Soissons offensive; St. Mihiel offensive; Meuse-Argonne offensive. The success of these engagements was due to the efforts and spirit of the officers and enlisted men engaged. Entitled to wear a Silver Star."
