Son of Mr. and Mrs. William Bell. He attended Bloomington High School. He enlisted in the Army at the age of 18. During World War II, he was in Japan, and later served in the Army Occupation. Entering the Korean War, he was wounded in July 1950 and was sent back home. He went back to Korea in September 1951. He was a cook with X Corp Headquarters Company. He was in a truck with others taking gasoline up to the front lines when the truck turned over on Route 24, North Korea, and he was trapped. He suffered a traumatic pulmonary hemorrhage in the chest and died on December 6, 1951.
