Vena Lee Burke Perkins was born on March 1, 1914 in the Griffin community of Wayne County and departed this life on Wednesday afternoon in Louisville, reaching an age of 77 years. She was the daughter of Lincoln and Eva Foster Burke, both of whom precedes her in death.

On December 3, 1932, she united in marriage with Mack L. Perkins and to this 58 year union, nine children survive, four daughters, Peggy Ann Baker, Joann Brown, Linda Baker and Mitzi Smith; five sons, Anson, Forrest, Roger, Michael and Rocky; two sisters, Leila Rice and Violet Daniels; four brothers, Roy, Bill, Ralph and Ray Burke.

Vena accepted Christ as her Savior and was a faithful member of the Sandusky Chapel Baptist Church at the time of her passing.

She was a hard worker and had a great sense of humor that kept her family going, even until the end. She was a faithful wife, loving mother, attentive grandmother and special friends to all who knew her.

Funeral services were held October 27 with burial in the Sandusky Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
