Mr. Melvin D. Freeman, age 87, of Hampton, Georgia, passed away Saturday, January 30, 2021, at Sacred Journey Hospice.
Mr. Freeman was born on October 13, 1933, in Forsyth, Georgia. His parents, Luvin Guy Freeman and Ruby Mae Wooten Freeman, along with his first wife, Carol Jean Freeman, all preceded him in death.
He was retired from Overnite Transportation and was an active member of Jodeco Road United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Clanton Freeman; children, Randall and Marianne Freeman, Kathy and Tim Powell, Richard Freeman and Steve Card; step children, Kathy and Kent Coder, Mike Clanton, Milton Clanton; grandchildren, Ryan Freeman, Michelle and Todd Oswalt, Jason and Grace Martin, Amanda and Jason Butler, Stephanie and Matthew Goss, Whitney and Sasan Zamani, Natalie Powell; Brother, Lester Freeman; sisters, Dorothy Jones, Frances Jones, Deborah Glover; numerous great grandchildren and step grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 3, 2021, from noon until 1:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow in the chapel. Due to the COVID virus, the family is requesting social distancing and masks be worn. Seating will be limited at the chapel, so the family would like to encourage viewing the service via live stream, which the link can be found at the bottom of the obituary page. Jodeco Road United Methodist Church will also be live streaming the service in the church sanctuary.
Interment will be in Midway United Methodist Cemetery. Pastor Russell Waldmann will officiate.
