Obituary for Robert Dale Anders
Robert Dale Anders, 64, of Plant City, FL passed away on February 8, 2021, after an 18-month battle with cancer. Robert was born in Huntsville, AL on December 8, 1956, and moved to Tampa, FL in 1959. He graduated from Tampa Bay Tech High School, where he enjoyed success on both the baseball and football teams. He married Susan Redding on August 26, 1977, and they were married for 43 years. In 1983, he surrendered to the call to preach the good news of Jesus. He served as pastor of Cross Baptist Church in Tampa, FL, and later as associate pastor, youth pastor, music director, and school principal at Faith Baptist Church and Christian School in Brandon, FL. Following his service at Faith Baptist Church, he served as a faithful member of Fellowship Baptist Church in the capacities of deacon and Sunday School teacher, pouring his heart and soul into his teachings on the Book of Revelation. He also worked as an inside salesman for Fleet Products for 25 years. Robert was preceded in death by his father Charles Anders and is survived by his mother, Barbara Anders; his loving wife, Susan; daughters, Rebecca Anders (Jay Crowdus) and Tiffany Kroeze (Daniel); son, Nick Anders (Kathleen); sisters, Sherry Ireland (Randy) and Brenda Simmons; brothers, Ted Anders (Vonda) and Kevin Anders (Hazel); grandchildren, Avery, Oliver, Nora, and Leila and numerous nephews and nieces. Robert loved traveling with Susan and spending time with his grandchildren. Always a big sports fan, he was blessed to see his first sports love, the Alabama Crimson Tide, claim the college football national championship this past season. He also thoroughly enjoyed watching the Tampa Bay Lightning win the Stanley Cup and the Tampa Bay Rays go to the World Series last year. On the last night of his life, Robert was surrounded by all of his immediate family as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers won the Super Bowl in Tampa. His devotion to Christ reached far beyond his experience in formal ministry, as he was compelled by an overwhelming desire to see all come to know Jesus personally. His impact was significant, and he will be greatly missed. A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 13, 2021, at Fellowship Baptist Church in Thonotosassa, FL, followed by a funeral service beginning at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Mike Grover officiating, and a few words from Scotty Drake, under whose ministry he trusted Christ as his Savior. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens, Thonotosassa. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to H.E.L.P. Ministries.
