Richard was born in Council Bluffs, IA to Bertha Emaline (Mendenhall) and Alva Curtis Kempton. 1967 graduate of Fremont Mills High School in Tabor, IA.

Vietnam Army Veteran (UH-1 Heli Mech). Worked with his dad at Kempton Garage in Tabor. Past Commander of VFW Post #7064 and past member of the Volunteer Fire Department both of Tabor. He worked for Nebraska Game and Parks. Talented auto mechanic, but his love was in aviation. Went back to school and earned his Aviation Maintenance Technology, A.A.S. Degree from Iowa Western. Retired from Duncan Aviation.

Fan of Lincoln Saltdogs Baseball. Loved nature, being outdoors and tinkering in his shop. His big bear hugs will be missed!
