Mr. Brochu died at Sturdy Memorial Hospital where he was taken by the Attleboro rescue squad.
According to Dr. James N. Shamey, medical examiner, Mr. Brochu suffered no external injuries in the accident.
Mr. Brochu , 76, was a pantograph operator, for V. H. Blackinton & Co. of North Attleboro for the past 10 years. He was the husband of Julia A. (Lariviere) Brochu .
Previously he had worked for the Mossberg Press Steel Co. in Cumberland for 37 years, retiring 14 years ago.
Mr. Brochu was a Navy veteran, having served as a torpedoman third class aboard the vessels Bushnell and Colorado from 1923 to 1928.
He was an honorary life member of St. John council, K.ofC., No. 404. He was a member of St. Jean Baptiste of America in Woonsocket, and a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Norton.
Born in Canada, he was a son of the late Joseph L. and Alexina (Audet) Brochu . He had lived in Norton 40 years.
Besides his wife he leaves four daughters, Mrs. Rita Desrochers of Plainville, Mrs. Doris Castro of Attleboro, Mrs. Louise Pickette of Swansea and Mrs. Ida Figuerado of Attleboro; two sons, Leo Brochu of Mansfield and the Rev. Mr. Richard Brochu of Windsor, Ont.; a brother, Roland F. Brochu of Lincoln, Maine; 24 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
His funeral service will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. from the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home at 20 Peck St., Attleboro, with a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church on South Worcester Street, Norton. Burial will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery, Attleboro.
