Katharine Marvin went into the arms of Jesus February 6, 2021, surrounded by her loving family at Rose Arbor Assisted Living in Maple Grove, where she was cared for royally with love the past three years. Katharine, with her joyful heart, was a ray of sunshine to all who knew her. Katharine was born February 3, 1926 to her parents Dr. Sidney and Elizabeth Reese in Lincoln, NE. She met her husband Dr. Joseph (Joe) Marvin at the University of Nebraska where they both were attending.

Katharine and Joe married in 1948 and moved to Brainerd in 1956 where Joe practiced medicine for over 20 years until his death in 1977. Katharine was a teacher and also volunteered in various organizations throughout her adult life.

Katharine was blessed with six children, Joe (Sharon) Marvin, Andover, MN; Kathy (Chuck) Miller, Cohasset, MN; John (Julie) Marvin, Maple Grove, MN; Mike (Carrie) Marvin, Backus, MN; Dan (Jody) Marvin, Maple Grove, MN; Patti (Rob) Weber, Waconia, MN. She was additionally blessed with 17 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

Katharine was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; her parents Sidney and Elizabeth Reese and her sisters Betty Shurtleff and Margaret Folsom.

Katharine’s 95 years of life will be celebrated May 23, 2021 at 1:00 with arrangements being made through Nelson-Doran Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.

The memories Katharine provided will forever be cherished as she spread HIS light to so many.
