Hickory Grove – Dr. Danny William Turner, age 73, passed away on February 12, 2021, at home after a battle with cancer.

Danny was the son of Bill and Margie Turner. He was a graduate of Hickory Grove High School and Clemson University where he earned an undergraduate degree and a Ph.D. in mathematics. He taught for 20+ years at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, and finished his career at Winthrop University.

He is survived by his wife, Andie Turner. They became a blended family with sons, William Jason Turner (Heather), Joe Denton, daughters, Susan Morton (Chris), Linda Rumfelt and Marianne Denton. Also, he was Grandpaw to Emily and Maddie Turner, Paw Paw to Landon Morton and DT to Amber, Drew & AJ Rumfelt, Zack and Savannah Vinson. Danny is also survived by his brother Rick Turner (Donna) and his sister Janice Douglas (David) and his nieces and nephews.

Danny was an avid Clemson Tiger fan and loved attending the football games and tailgating with family and friends. He had a passion for playing jazz guitar with Brian Hipp (saxophone & vocalist) as part of Take Two duo. He enjoyed time on the golf course especially with son-in-law, Chris, and good friend, Brian. He also loved playing basketball in the back yard with grandson, Landon. He was a member of Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church.

There will be a graveside service on Sunday, February 14, at 3 p.m. at Hickory Grove Cemetery.
