Gary George Shelton was born July 9, 1951 in Worland, Wyoming to Elmer George Hill and Hazel Stroud-Shelton-Hill. He passed away on February 11, 2021 at his home in Marlow, OK at the age of 69.

Gary graduated from Sayre High School in 1969 and then attended Cameron University in Lawton for a year. He married Cloretta Dee Oakley on November 28, 1970. In January 1970 he joined the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1973. He was the operator of many movie theaters including the Redskin in Anadarko, Stovall in Sayre, Washita in Chickasha, and Southland in Chickasha. He also operated corporate theaters for Video and Carmike in Enid, Ponca City, Elk City, Lawton, Ardmore, and Artesia, NM. For a short time he owned the D&G Grill in Duncan. He also worked as a carpenter and did contract work. Gary enjoyed fishing, OU football and the NFL.

He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer George Hill; mother, Hazel Stroud-Shelton-Hill; stepdad, Gene Hill; and sisters: Cheryl Mannen, Karen Beham.

Gary is survived by his wife, Dee; brothers: Mike and wife Sylvia Hill of Wynnewood; Ron Luttrell of Elk City; brothers-in-law: Morgan Mannen of Comanche; Steve Beham of Mustang; and sister-in-law, Lee and husband Max Wells of Duncan.

A graveside service is scheduled for Friday, February 19, at 1:00 P.M. in the Sayre-Doxey Cemetery in Sayre with Pastor Andy Taylor, Trinity Church-Sayre, officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home of Duncan.
