MRS. SHIFTER, WIDOW OF CITY DRUGGIST, DIES
Mrs. Savanna Shiffer, widow of Charles Shiffer, and for many years a resident of this city, died at Kingston at 4 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, from complications due to advanced age. She had been in ill health for some months past. She was 89 years of age. Her husband preceded her in death nine years ago, breaking a marital union of more than a half century. He was for many years engaged as a druggist, his store being located on Third street, in the Central Hotel Building. Several years ago she went to Kingston to make her home with a niece, and there she spent the remainder of her long life. She was a devoted member of the St. John's Methodist Church, this city, and is well remembered by the older members of the congregation for her faithful service to the church. She is survived by two sons, H. F. Shiffer, of Williamsport, and R. A. Shiffer, of this city; three grand children, and four greatgrandchildren. She was the last of her immediate family. Funeral services will be held on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Dornsife Funeral Home. Rev. C. F. Berkheimer, pastor of St. John's Church, will officiate. Burial will be made in the West Side cemetery. Remains may be viewed in the Dornsife Funeral home Friday evening, between 7 and 9 o'clock.
