Joseph Asa Hart, age 71, formerly of Jasonville, Indiana passed away on January 19, 2021, at his residence, following a bout with COVID & Kidney failure. He spent the past few years of his life in Fremont, Ohio nearby his daughter.

Joe was born March 31, 1949, in Cincinnati, Ohio, and graduated from Lawrenceburg High School in 1967. Joe contracted histoplasmosis as a boy and lost sight in one eye. Later in life, he lost sight in his other eye.

Joe left home at 21 to travel across Europe. Joe later married Susan Frances Siemer and settled in Greene County, Indiana where he was a carpenter and later a landlord. Joe and Susan Hart had two children, Odi Jacob & Yena Peach. Joe & Susan separated, then he later married Melinda Ellen Miller.

Joe enjoyed singing and playing many instruments, including the guitar, ukulele, and harmonica. He enjoyed foraging for and studying herbs. He was always touting the benefits of such herbs as poke root. He was an excellent fisherman. He also liked learning about history and genealogy.

He is survived by his ex-wives; son Odi (Amber) Hart of Sandborn, Indiana; daughter Yena (Larry) Sanchez of Fremont, OH; stepson Brad Farmer of Jasonville: grandchildren Savannah (Shane) Kirk of Bloomfield, Indiana, Samuel & Solomon Sanchez, Asa & Aubrey Hart, Madisyn Farmer; great-grandchildren Sophia, Spencer & Sawyer Kirk; brothers, David (Rosemary) Bloomington, Indiana and Steve (Janet) Hart. Aurora, Indiana; good friends, Steve & Chris Letsinger of Jasonville, Indiana.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents Thomas & Lucile (Harper) Hart of Lawrenceburg, Indiana.

Joe will be cremated and returned to the earth. There will be a memorial get together planned for this summer.

Joe planted many trees, so if you feel so inclined, please plant a tree in memory of him.
