Judy Kay Oakes, 72, of Sedalia, Missouri passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at Bothwell Regional Health Center. She was born on December 23, 1947 in Hughesville, Missouri the daughter of Darwin Bartlett and Marjorie (Rumsey) Bartlett, who preceded her in death.
In August of 1981 in Sedalia, Missouri she was united in marriage to Dale E. Oakes, who survives of the home.
Judy worked at various manufactures in Sedalia including Kelsey-Hayes, Jensens Manufacturing, and Rival Manufacturing. Judy loved her dogs Queenie and J.R., and spending time outdoors working in her flower and rose gardens. She enjoyed decorating and re-modeling her home. Judy especially enjoyed her weekends driving around Sedalia going to garage sales. She was known for always staying busy, never sitting still, always striking up a conversation with anyone she came in contact with anyone she came in contact with.
In addition to her husband she is survived by a son, Scott Hughes (Donna) of Sedalia; a step-son Bruce Oakes of Clinton, Missouri; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; four brothers David Bartlett (Susan) of Sedalia Jimmy Bartlett [Rev. James Bartlett the oldest and wife Linda] of Stover, Missouri; Ronnie Bartlett of Pilot Grove, Tommy Bartlett of Sedalia; four sisters, Joyce Fax (Fred) of Sedalia, Darlene Poindexter of Sedalia, Pam Bartlett of Sedalia, and Joetta Fisher (Bill) of Hughesville.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two daughters, Sherry Hughes and Sondra Mullins; a brother, Wayne Bartlett.
A graveside service and burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, November 16, 2020 at Hopewell Cemetery, rural Sedalia on EE highway with Rev. Jeff Randleman officiating.
A visitation and service will be announced at a later date at Rea Funeral Chapel.
Pallbearers will be Devin Hughes, Marissa Hughes, Gage Mullins, Fred Fox, Chad McNeal, and Matthew Mullins.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Sedalia Animal Shelter in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.

NOTE: Judy Kay, as she was called was my Aunt, and perhaps others might see this in bad taste but I would like to include a small story as the the type of lady she was. Her sister Joetta has a home health nurse come and tend to her during the week but also Judy Kay would go and check on her. One day while she was there to help with the care of her sister, she was exposed to the new Covid-19 virus. I wouldn't learn until after her passing about any of this, but she unselfishly risked her own life to help someone else. She was on a breathing machine in the hospital and passed before I would even get the chance to know that she was sick.

At her graveside services I had the chance to offer my sympathy to the family, here I leave this memorial for any one else who wishes to do the same.

Gone but Never forgotten.......never lost in the memories, or the heart....

Her Headstone set's along the back row at the curve of the road over looking the hillside and church.
