Dot retired from the Granville County School System in 2003 after 23 years of teaching and tutoring elementary students. Even after her retirement, she continued to tutor and substitute teach for many years. As a 4-H club leader, Dot probably took about half the 4-H children in Granville County on field trips all over the state as well as to Washington DC and New York City. She had a life-long passion for reading and education and loved interacting with the children and seeing the satisfaction on their faces when they learned new things.
Dot is survived by her son Jeff Woodward of Charlotte, NC; son Rudi Woodward (wife Kelly) of Arlington, VA; granddaughter Megan (husband Taylor) of Washington DC; sisters Josephine Stephenson of Creedmoor, NC; Nancy Elliott (husband Calvin) of Oxford, NC; and Barbara Jean Wall of Oxford, NC; as well as five nieces, two nephews, and many dear friends who were like family to her.
A service will be held at Mountain Creek Baptist Church at 11:00 AM Tuesday May 3, 2022 by Reverend Johnny Richards followed by a graveside burial at Oak Hill Presbyterian Church cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service in the fellowship hall from 9:30 – 10:45 AM.
