Mark was born on December the 8th, 1959 and was a mischievous child from the start. He grew into an outstanding athlete, playing football and baseball for the Tar Heel Panthers. He married Teal Fields on September 9, 1979 and with their extended family of friends they traveled, playing sports, and enjoying each other's families. The two also spent a little time apart as Mark was quite an avid hunter!
When you gained Mark's respect and friendship, you had back-up for life. His hard exterior housed a heart of gold. He gave freely where he saw the need, even if he was giving an unsolicited opinion. His favorite pleasure was to share his food and his laughter. He was a selfless care giver to both of his parents and the sweetest P-Pa to his four grandsons.
Mark is survived by his wife and best friend Teal, daughter Leigh Ann Hair and husband Seth, son J.R. and wife Caitlin; brother Jeff and wife Teresa; sister-in-law Pegi; sister Jill: grandsons Jase and Tyler Allen and Luke and Carver Hair; numerous nieces and nephews; and his most special Uncle Jim.
A walk-through viewing will be held Sunday, February 14, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Purdie United Methodist Church in Tar Heel. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 pm, with visitation afterwards, all remaining respectful to social distancing.
