She was married to Joe Calvin Maple of Seward Oklahoma at age 20 and they had three children together, Linda Joy Butler, Michael Brady Maple and Stuart Joe Maple. They were divorced for two decades when she remarried Louis Junior Butler. Louis and Joan had 8 wonderful years together and Louis passed in 1988. She never remarried.
She worked for Douglas Aircraft and Hughes Aircraft in California. In 1966 she moved her children and her mother back to Guthrie Oklahoma and worked for Dr. Petty there. After Dr. Petty retired, she went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone and retired from there after 17 years of service. She worked part time at the racetrack in Oklahoma City for a while before moving to Texas to live with her daughter after her granddaughter’s sudden death. She moved to Texas permanently to live with her daughter’s family to help the family cope with the loss of Joanna.
Her priority was always her family and she is greatly beloved by all.
She is survived by her daughter Linda Joy Butler of the home, her son-in-law Louis Leroy Butler, her son Stuart Joe Maple, grandson Michael Byron Maple, granddaughter Gretchen Lee Murph, great-grandsons Zachary Louis Butler and Walker Thomas Maple.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M, February 12, 2021 at Baggerley Funeral Home in Edmond, Oklahoma. Interment will be at Gracelawn Cemetery, Edmond, Oklahoma.
