Ralph Andrew Batson, age 80, passed away Monday, Oct. 1, at Polk City Manor in Polk City, Iowa. He was born on December 11,1926, to Tennie Shawn Batson and Clayton Nathaniel Batson.
He was a floor covering contractor for 45 years and was also a veteran of the Army Air Corps during World War II. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge and the LDS Church in Ankeny, Iowa.
Survivors include his wife, Freeda, of the home; a daughter, Gwyneth Batson Ayres, of Okemah, and two sons, Ron Batson of Bondurant, Iowa and Keith Batson of Elkhart, Iowa, and one sister, Wanda Wester of Vilonia, Ark. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Robert Batson.
Memorial Services in Iowa were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6, at Elkhart Christian Church in Elkhart, Iowa with the pastor of that church and the bishop of the Ankeny LDS church officiating, and will be held in Oklahoma on
October 13, at the Okemah United Pentecostal Church at 2 p.m. with Rev. Randy Clark of that church officiating. Burial services will be later at a private family gathering at Likowski Cemetery in Pharoah.
Funeral arrangements are being arranged by Hamilton's Funeral Home in Des Moines, Iowa.
