Muriel Lillian Walker Hicks, 99, of Inman, SC is now in the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, February 9, 2021. She was born August 17, 1921 in Toronto, Canada to George and Elizabeth Hill Walker.

She grew up in Niagara Falls where she met and married Paul Hicks a Lt. Commander in the U.S. Navy during World War II. They moved to Tonawanda, NY where they raised three boys, Shaun, Dale “Teddy”, and Kevin. They were married 49 years until his passing in 1999. Dale passed away a year ago.

Muriel loved to travel, she was an avid reader, horseback rider, bowled on leagues, and was a very active member of Tryon Methodist Church for over 40 years. As a member of Women of United Methodist of Tryon, she loved going on trips and to Lake Junaluska with her church friends.

Muriel lived over 40 years in Columbus, NC until she moved in with her son, Kevin and his wife Mickee at age 97 until her passing. She found that move difficult but she was happy to be with family. Giving up driving at age 97 was also difficult, she was very independent. She loved candy, cookies, coffee, lunch with friends, and her beloved pet socks.

She leaves behind, a son, Kevin Hicks and his wife, Mickee; granddaughter, Heather Fubelli; two great-grandchildren, Michael and Nick; niece Margret Ann Nagy, and nephew, Robert Seefeldt and his wife, Kathy.

Muriel will be laid to rest in Wendelville, NY in a family plot. She loved Jesus and passed peacefully in His arms.

No flowers please, memorials may be made in her honor to Tryon Methodist Church, 195 New Market Road, Tryon, NC 28782.
