Funerals services for Max Leon Abraham, 76, a resident of Traverse County for 74 years, were held at the Ave Maria Catholic Church, Wheaton, on Wednesday morning, Jan 5 with Rev. John Eccleston officiating.
Mr. Abraham died unexpectedly on sunday morning, Jan 2 of a heart attack.
Active pallbearers were Donald Arens, rogger Abraham, Roy Hormann, Dale Sax, Kenneth Schmitz and Lyle Wohlenhaus. Honorary bearers were Ray Arens, Mike Fridgen, Vern Schmitz, Charles McElwain, Irvin Bruns, Leo Mullenbach and Francis Mord. Internment took place in Wildwood Cemetery.
Max Abraham was born at Janesville, MN, on September 1, 1900, the son of Herman Abraham and Elizabeth Abraham. He grew up in Traverse County and later moved into Wheaton. He was united in marriage to Euphemia Benzkofer on September 21, 1927. In 1962 he retired from farming and worked part time as a carpenter and painter. His hobbies were hunting and fishing.
He was a member of the Ave Maria Catholic Church.
Mr. Abraham is survived by his wife Euphemia, two sons, Eugene of Watertown, MN, and Kenneth of Savage, eight grandchildren, two brothers, Arthur of Dent and Ernest of Wheaton and one sister, Mrs. Esther McElwain.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Myrtle and one brother Edward.
