He was member of Farmington Baptist church for 62 years. Early in his life he was editor of the Daily Corinthian and Publisher of the Banner Independent. He served in the National Guard and spent many years in construction and land development. He was the owner of numerous businesses including local businesses: Smith Home Center and Smith Cabinet Shop.
Anyone who knew him understood the value he placed on hard work. He led by example. He enjoyed playing golf with His buddies and considered them family.
Born on October 29, 1938 in Alcorn County, Mississippi, he was the son of Clarence D. (CD) and Bertha Bullard Smith.
He was loved and will be remembered by his wife of 62 years, Kathryn Moore Smith, his sons: Tracy Smith (Karen Smith) and Brad Smith (Nikki); his daughter, Jennifer Johnson, grandchildren: Megan Smith (Ben), Hayley Ford (Matt), Heather Smith (Thomas), Morgan Smith, Katey Johnson Irvin (Josh), and Mark Johnson; great-grandchildren: Michael Ford, Mattie Ford, Molly Smith, and Amelia Irvin; and brothers Varnell Smith, sisters: Vera Reed and Verlene Strickland.
He is preceded in death his parents, brothers: Verlon Smith, Virgil Smith, Virl Smith, Van Smith, Vester Smith, and Vandel Smith; Sisters: Viola Simmons, Vadie Pittman, and Vernice Coffman.
A celebration of his life will held at Farmington Baptist Church, 84 CR 106A, Corinth, Saturday, February 13, 2021, at 2 pm. Bro. Matt Ford, Bro. David Curry, and Bro. Don Boren will officiate the service.
Attendees are requested to wear a mask and practice social distancing. The service will be streamed live over the Corinthian Funeral Home Facebook page.
Interment will follow in the Farmington Baptist Church Cemetery.
Due to safety concerns, his family has requested a private visitation prior to the service.
