Michael Lanier was born November 25, 1948 in Abilene Texas, to John Harrison Lanier and Anna Laura Lanier. He passed away on January 19, 2021 at the age of 72. He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by; Morrisella R. Lanier (Marti) his beloved Wife of 53 years. Two Children- John Lanier of Abilene and Jana Lanier-Dover and Fiance David Smith of Abilene. 5 Grandchildren- Dalton Dover and wife Kathryn of Kerrville, Brittani Sperry and husband Ryan of Oklahoma, Hannah Lanier-Villarreal and husband Shane of Abilene, Colton Lanier of Abilene, Kelsey Lanier of Abilene. 9 Great grandchildren, one sister Jacqueline Redwine and husband Mickey of New Braunfels, and many nephews and nieces. Mike was the owner of Abilene Tent & Awning from 1990 - 2001. In 2000, he attended a "Walk to Emmaus" which sparked his love to paint again. He turned the Abilene Tent & Awning building into what is now known as "Studio 13" in 2005. Mike was not only a talented artist, he was a gifted teacher, loving and dedicated husband, dad to many not even his own, pawpaw and brother. He was an encouraging mentor, supportive friend to many, never met a stranger and was genuinely interested in everyone he knew. His many contributions to the art community are not just limited to his beautiful pieces, but his influence of teaching and helping other artists that will never be forgotten. He will forever impact those he knew. Mike was a strong man of faith and so loved his Lord Jesus Christ with all his heart. He has gained his angel wings way too soon. He is now painting the heaven's skies with beautiful colors. His canvas will be endless. Memorial service was 10:00am Saturday January 30, 2021 at Beltway South, North Chapel.
