He was a 1992 graduate of Valley Center High School. While in high school, he was active in 4-H, raised pigs and ran cross country. In 1996, he received his Bachelor's Degree from Kansas State University, studying Ag Business, Animal Science and Production Management. He participated in Rodeo Club all 4 years, serving as president.
Some of his favorite things to do were attending anything involving his daughters. Sports, FFA, choir or any even that his princesses were doing, he would be there. He also loved fishing, rodeo, bull riding, and spending time with friends. Considering he made friends everywhere he went which wasn't difficult for him. He was involved in the cattle industry his entire working career, working for Sun-Glo Feeds in Hesston, Gjerstad Cattle, R&E Cattle Co. and was a self employed cattle broker, trading fat cattle.
Regardless of his job title, his job was all about talking to people. He was always calling people he knew, starting a conversation. Even when it started with work it turned into a conversation about so and so's family, their pets, just anything. If he didn't know someone and he thought their was common ground, he would get to know you. He could start a conversation based on the cap you were wearing.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dodge City. He was also a member of the Kansas State University Alumni.
