Hi, I have some additional info for Caroline Kahle Buchholz: she was born in Hannover, Germany, d. Clarksville, Butler, IA; she first married Heinrich (b. Abt 1813 Germany, d. bet. May 30 - Dec 31, 1855 prob. New York City)Buchholz in Germany, where all of their children were born. Heinrich probably died in New York City after they arrived from Germany May 30, 1855. Caroline and Henry's children are: William (1832), Caroline (1834), Henry (1838), Christina (1839), Diedrich (1842), Louisa (1844), Fritz (1846), Wilhelmina (1848). I got their names from the ship's (ship: Union)list on Ancestry.com. Caroline and Fredrich Buchholz didn't have any children together. Fredrich was 1st married to Sophia Kahle who died Dec 1, 1850 Guttenberg, Clayton, Iowa. Sophia's children: Maria (1840), Louis (1842), Margaret (1844), John (1845), Anna (1847), Henry (1848), and William (1850). I have not found if Sophia Kahle and Caroline Kahle are sisters or if Heinrich Buchholz and Fredrich Buchholz are brothers yet. Good possibility, though. On the 1856 Iowa State Census, Jefferson, Clayton County, Caroline is living with Friederich (spelled this way on census) Buchholz and his children. From "Years Ago" compiled by Rudolf J Priepke in 1995 - page 28 under 20 Jan 1876 - Frederich Buchholz came to America in 1846 with his wife, Mary, and six children and settled in Clayton County. His brother Henry who married Mary's sister, Caroline, came to America in 1854 with their eight children. Henry died enroute and Caroline came to Clayton county where Frederick had bought a farm for his brother. Mary died in 1858 and Caroline married her brother-in-law the following year. In November 1868 they came to Fremont Twsp and bought the half-section of land southwest of the Pleasant Valley church.
