Von Beck TurneR

On the evening of October 16, 2014, Susan Jane (Seymour) Von Beck Turner passed away at her Duvall, Washington home in the loving comfort of her family, after a courageous 3-year battle with ovarian cancer. She was 51.

Susan was born on February 8, 1963 in Morristown, New Jersey. She was the younger daughter of Jane Ann Mackey and Leroy Wiley Seymour, Jr. Susan grew up in Basking Ridge, Somerset County, New Jersey where she and her sister pursued their love of horses, participating in horse shows every weekend as her mother's way of keeping them out of trouble. After graduating from Ridge High School, Susan moved to San Diego to join her mother and step father James O. Page who had relocated there and quickly became an avid Chargers fan. Susan possessed an adventurous and entrepreneurial spirit from an early age, filling her life with exciting opportunities and exploring numerous careers as an accomplished horse trainer, racehorse exerciser, bartender, advertising sales manager, law enforcement deputy, and flight attendant where she flew from California to Mexico's Baja Peninsula destinations, enjoying the sun and beaches on both ends of the route. When she started dreaming in Spanish, she felt it was time for the next chapter to begin.

In 1993, Susan headed north to Washington where she became a Senior Account Manager for The Auto Trader magazines. After rescuing and training her horse "Huey", she competitively rode Dressage with him and won many competitions. In 1998, Susan moved to Duvall, WA and settled into a rural life with her cherished horses and dogs. With her beloved English Mastiff, Cardiff's health failing, she tried to find a place that would provide the type of love and care she would expect at a Doggie daycare or boarding facility. Not finding one that met her high standards of care, Susan decided to leave the corporate world and in her "can do" style built a well-respected and successful dog boarding facility, Cardiff's Lodge. She was a skilled and driven entrepreneur, but also had a huge heart, rescuing 100's of dogs in need, bringing them back to health and placing them into caring "forever" homes.

In October of 2010, she married the love of her life, Edwin Turner. Two hearts are better than one. Together, Susan and Ed enjoyed traveling in search of sunny beaches and good tequila, especially to their favorite place on earth; Akumal, Mexico. Susan was a light that burned brightly and far too briefly. I love you my "Deer", always and forever!

Susan is survived by her husband Edwin J. Turner and stepson Christopher J. Turner, her sister Debbie (Seymour) Ries of Carlsbad, California, brothers Andy Page of Temecula, California and Tom Page of Vista, California, and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2pm on November 15, 2014 at Timberlake Church, 15520 Main St NE, Duvall, Washington to celebrate Susan's life.

Memorial Donations in Susan's remembrance may be made to your favorite dog rescue organization in honor of Susan's lifelong passion for rescuing dogs.
