Born on January 3, 1943, in Paterson, NJ, she was raised in Wyckoff, NJ and graduated from Ramapo High School and Katharine Gibbs Secretarial School.
She is the second daughter of the late Edward and Grace (Rider) Lemmerman. Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Howard Ellis. She is also predeceased by her older sister Margaret (Lemmerman) Brewer. She is survived by her daughter Lisa Taranto, and her wife, Jennifer Sharp of St. Petersburg, FL; her sister Joan (Lemmerman) Rickettson and husband Mark, of New Boston, NH; niece Jessica (Rickettson) Lockley and husband Nate, and great-nephews Jack and Luke Lockley, of North Andover, MA; niece Debra (Burget) Rose and husband Mark; step-daughter Debra Waldron and husband Michael of Blairstown, NJ; step-son H. Ruth enjoyed traveling in Europe with her late husband, visiting her daughter in Florida, and being a part of any and all family get-togethers. She truly loved moving to, and living in, New Hampshire with Joan and Mark. She was a big fan of Neil Diamond, John Denver, the New York Yankees, and butter pecan ice cream! She had tremendous love and compassion for all animals. She adored her dogs, Teddy and Parker, as well as all of the family dogs - Jake, Rudy, Jack, Tigger and Ozzie. She was full of wit and wisdom, and always brought a smile to people's faces. She loved to dance with her great-nephews, cook outstanding meals, and make us all laugh until our stomachs hurt. She was also a huge fan of going out to try different restaurants, especially those that served oysters!
