Eleanor Wilson
February 28, 1949 - February 07, 2021

Eleanor was the first born of five children to Mr. Redd Wilson and Mrs. Helen Wilson. Early on she was baptized in the Christian faith. Eleanor attended Sunday school & worship services with parents each Sunday.

Eleanor was raised in the Gatesville and Hopewell Community and was baptized at Egypt Hill Baptist Church as a child. She attended school at Brushy Creek Elementary School, then graduated from Holtzclaw High school in Crystal Springs. After graduating from Holtzclaw she was accepted to and attended Jackson State College (now Jackson State University)

Eleanor’s passion was to share her knowledge. She worked in the Hinds County School system, Jackson MS. She also worked at Millsaps College while taking classes to extend her education.

Eleanor eventually moved to the Atlanta area where she worked at Atlanta Job Corps Center. While in the Atlanta area she continued to serve her community and extend knowledge to the students she oversaw. Each city she lived in she consistently attended church services and participated in various programs that enhanced the church community.

After several years of working in the Atlanta area she moved back to Crystal Springs with the goal of assisting her elderly mother. She then joined Bright Star Baptist Church and attended regularly. Later she united with New Zion United Methodist Church. She and her mother attended New Zion on a regular basis. While accomplishing the goal of assisting her mother she was challenged with the complications of dementia. Eleanor last days were spent in Singing River Hospital in Pascagoula MS.

She leaves to cherish her memories her mother, Helen F. Wilson, 2 sisters Sandra Miller (of Gautier MS), Carol Wilson (of Marietta, GA) and one brother, Clayton Wilson (of Crystal Springs, MS). Four nieces Corinthia (Andrea) Miller-Franklin, Sabrina Miller, Falomi (Mark) Jones and Cinice Wilson and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her father (Redd Wilson) and brother (Redd Wilson, Jr.).
