John Nicholas was still living at the time of the 1860 Federal Census and listed his age as 85 years. He could have lived as late as 1866 as there is a property tax in Lumpkin County, Georgia for a J. N. Whisenhunt in 1866. Nicholas was a popular name in this family and another J. Nicholas pops up in 1867.
