Deacon Bennie M. Graves, 73, of Pittsville, passed away February 6, 2021, at his residence. Born on October 17, 1947, in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of Haywood J. Graves and Ruth Robertson Graves. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence and James Graves. He was an employee of Appalachian Power and retired after forty years of service. He was a member of Otterville Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his devoted friend, Dorothy Lowry; his children, Haywood McKenly Graves (Phyllis), Lisa Ann Northington (Rich) and Damien Lamar Stephens (Tinisha); five brothers, Oscar Graves (Bertha), Jewel Graves (Loretta), Eugene Graves (Deborah), Alvin Graves (Beatrice) and Timothy Graves; a sister, Janice Knox (Michael); two grandchildren, Antwon Graves and Isaiah Strickland; a host of other relatives.
Burial will be in the Burning Bush Holiness Church Cemetery, Pittsville, Va.
