Dan was a child care worker at Fairmount Children Center, Elmcrest Children Center and Hillbrook Juvenile Detention Center. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp for 8 years and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a boxer, played semi pro football for many years and played 2 seasons with the New York Jets.
He was preceded in death by his father Wheeler Freeman, his mother Ethel Melvina Owens Freeman, brothers Edward and Leonard Freeman and sisters Patricia and Star Freeman.
He is survived by his wife Janet Freeman, sons Daniel and Jason Freeman and Chad Anderson; Daughters Danita Freeman-Wynn (Elson) and Joi Freeman; brother Kip Freeman, sisters Ethel Shabazz and Paulette Ellis and sister-in-law Carol Taylor; 6 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and generations of nieces, nephews and cousins.
