Mary Ann Schroeder, a long-time resident of Turlock, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 31, 2021. She was 92 years old.

Mary Ann was born in Oklahoma to her late parents, Walter and Tennessee Hopkins. Raised in the Davenport/Kendrick area of Oklahoma, she moved with her family to the Turlock area in 1944.

Shortly after the end of World War II, Mary Ann met her beloved husband, Myron while working at Hume Cannery. He had just returned from service. The two eloped on December 1, 1946, and were constant companions for 55 years until Myron’s death in 2002.

Mary Ann lived a full life as a wonderful mother and homemaker. She will be remembered for her delicious cooking and baking, and for loving to share her treats with family and friends. She often received many requests for her cinnamon rolls which became her known specialty. Besides being a wonderful cook, she was also extremely skilled with crochet hooks, creating many delicate pieces of art. She enjoyed many years in the senior bowling league and enjoyed weekly outings to the local bowling alley. A farm girl at heart, gardening was also a passion, as well as being a member of the Turlock Garden Club.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Myron and her brothers, Jasper, William Gene, Fred, and Orman. She is survived by her sister Adeline Porter. Mary Ann was the beloved mother of Kennard (Debra) Schroeder and Arvina Schroeder (Kurt Celli); grandmother of Danelle (Jeff) Serpa, Daniel (Sandra) Schroeder, and Ryan (Carey) Lawrence; and great-grandmother of Brionna and Delaney Serpa, Emilia and Sebastian Schroeder, and Grey and Tessa Lawrence. She will also be remembered by many special nieces and nephews.

Most of all, Mary Ann loved her family. All of whom loved her dearly and will never forget her tenacity, wit, charm and undying love and care for them. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Thursday, February 11, 2021, at Turlock Memorial Park, 575 N. Soderquist Rd., Turlock.
