HARTFORD CITY – Timothy “Tim” Phillips, 72, passed away on Monday, February 8, 2021 at Cridersville Nursing Home in Cridersville, OH.
He was born in Bluffton on June 16, 1948 the son of James F. Phillips and E. Joan (Kean) Phillips. His parents preceded him in death.
Tim graduated from Montpelier High School in 1966 and attended Ball State University.
He married Cheryl J. (Melick) on June 23, 1972 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Hartford City. She passed away on May 20, 2019.
Tim retired from Indiana Bell Telephone after 27 years of service. After he retired he then worked as a contractor for the phone industry. He was a member of Grace Community Church in Montpelier, Scottish Rite Valley of Fort Wayne, Blackford County Country Club. He was the Past Master of Montpelier Masonic Lodge and formerly a Rotary member. He loved to spend time outside, he loved fishing, hunting and going golfing. He was a family man and he loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was also an avid reader.
He will be sadly missed by his daughter, Jeanette L. “Jenny” (husband, Richard L.) Garber of Wapakoneta, OH; grandchildren, Sarah Joan Garber and Nathan James Garber; sisters, Patricia (husband, John) Culy of Hartford City and Joni Phillips (friend, Ginger Gardner) of Indianapolis.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, February 12, 2021 at Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 North High Street, Hartford City. Burial will follow at Hartford City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, February 11, 2021 and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, February 12, 2021 at Keplinger Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Blackford County Community Foundation-Cancer Fund, P.O. Box 327, Hartford City, IN 47348
