Laura Marie McBride was born August 5, 1941 to Ella Elizabeth McBride in Ronda, N.C. She was called home on June 28, 2017 in Columbus, Ohio. Laura or (Malre) as she was known to many was retired from Tyson Foods in Wilkesboro, N.C. She has assisted for the last nine years as caregiver for her special grandson, VaShawn McBride, who passed away in June of 2016. She loved to travel, fish, play cards and many other interests. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and auntie. She loved being around family and friends. She loved to laugh and live life. She was always willing to step in and help where she could. She was a community helper to all who knew her. She is survived by her daughters, Ellis McBride, Karon McBride, and Alease Rousseau; grandchildren, Derrion Ross, Devonta Simmons, Cassinae Mason, Dontae Rousseau; great-grandchildren, VaShawn McBride Jr., Kesi McBride, Jasmine McBride, Da'Vayonii Ross, and Aubrey Simmons. She has many nieces and nephews and service friends and many other surrogate children. Funeral service Thursday 1 p.m. Chapel of CALIMAN FUNERAL SERVICES, 3700 REFUGEE RD, where the family will receive friends 12 noon until the time of service. Interment Eastlawn Cemetery.
