Melvin "Peanut" Newman, age 83, of Grethel, KY, widower of Culla Belle Hamilton Newman, passed away Monday, February 8, 2021 at Highlands ARH Medical Center, Prestonsburg, KY. He was born November 30, 1937 in Grethel, KY, son of the late Robert and Nannie Tackett Newman. He was a foundry worker.
He is survived by sons: Jason (Rose) Newman and Jim (Melissa) Hiatt, daughters; Sue (Luther) Bargerstock, Jackie (Larry) King and Rhonda Newman, brothers; Kennith (Mary) Newman and Willis (Joyce) Newman, 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one son: Jeffrey Newman, two brothers; Raymond and Travis Newman, three sisters; Lizzie Branham, Margaret Hall and Inis Newman, one granddaughter; Brittany Nicole Hiatt.
Funeral service for Mr. Newman will be conducted on Friday, February 12 at 1:00 pm in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Newman Cemetery, Grethel, KY. Visitation is after 6:00 pm Wednesday and all day Thursday at Hall Funeral Home.
