Richmond - Elizabeth "Betty Lou" Hampton 78 of Richmond got her wings Saturday, February 6, 2021, at home with her family by her side. She was born November 15, 1942, in Richmond to Elmer & Gladys Dunn Griffin and lived here all her life.
Betty attended Richmond Schools and worked at Richmond Baking Company, Huffy's Bicycle, and retired from Hoffco - Comet Inc. after 28 years. Betty enjoyed doing puzzle books, scratching off lottery tickets, bowling, listening to Elvis Presley, attending bingo, and collecting Pillsbury Dough Boy. When her daughters were in the Richmond Majorettes she enjoyed traveling with them to the parades and walking the whole parade route but most of all she enjoyed spending time with the family.
Betty Lou is survived by her husband of 60 years Ben. She is also survived by four children Franklin (Tina) Hampton, Bev (Steve) Cheek, Belinda Miller (Tommy) & Farron (Marcie) Hampton all of Richmond. seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, nieces & nephews, 1 brother Howard Griffin and a good friend Ruby Wilson. Preceding Betty Lou in death are her parents, 1 great-granddaughter Lilly Lynn Banning, a son-in-law David Miller and nine brothers and sisters, Bob, Bill, Jim, Benny Earl, John, Wilbur, Walter, Alice, and special sister Mary Jane.
Friends may call from 4:00 PM - 7 PM Thursday, February 11, 2021, at Stegall Berheide-Orr Funeral Home in Richmond. Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM Friday, February 12, 2021, at Stegall Berheide-Orr Funeral Home in Richmond with Pastor Jim Slaven officiating. Burial will be in Goshen Cemetery.
