Winnie Kelley Stone of New Boston, Texas, passed away Friday, February 27, 2015, at a Texarkana, Texas, hospital. She was 94. Winnie was born June 9, 1920, in New Boston, Texas, to Myrtle Evonia and Howell Newton Kelley. Winnie was an inspiration to everyone she met and greeted them with her smile. She truly lived a wonderful Christian life. She understood the power of forgiveness and treated everyone with dignity and respect. She loved all of her family and cherished the memories of her sweet Mother and Daddy. We know she is with them in Heaven and all the others that she loved. She was a Bowie County District Clerk for 25 years and served the county for 41 years. Winnie was a member of First Baptist Church in New Boston, Texas, for 83 years. She was a 50-year member of New Boston Chapter # 700 Order of the Eastern Star and past Worthy Matron; she was also a member of the County and District Clerks' Association of Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rex L. "Stoney" Stone, granddaughter, Heather Banks Brennan, grandson, Scott Edmonds Stone. She is survived by two sons and daughters in-law, Rex L. Jr. and Sandra Stone, of Texarkana Arkansas, and Kelley and Becky Stone of McKinney, Texas; one daughter, Jane Stone Skaggs of New Boston, Texas; one brother, L. G. Kelley of New Boston, Texas; ten grandchildren, Shannon (Todd) Brown, Sean (Laura) Banks, Michelle (Ernie) Trevino, Leigh Ann (Eddy) Scates, Casey (Kathy) Stone, Johnathan (Endsley) Stone, Hunter Stone, Laurie (Doug) Culpepper, Daniel (Anne) Ledbetter, and Stephanie (Steve) Jones; and fourteen great grandchildren, Jordan Brown, Peyton Brown, Madison Banks, Carter Banks, Carleigh Scates, Caylin Scates, Austin Stone, Payton Stone, Emily Ledbetter, Tristan Ledbetter, Brannon Shelby, Blake Jones, Emma Jones and Isabella Jones. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM, Monday, March 2, 2015, at First Baptist Church in New Boston, Texas, with Rev. Ken Cox and Rev. Larry Sims officiating. Pallbearers for the services will be Bill Dollar, James Fowler, Johnny Youngblood, Max Atchley, Fred Milton, and Don Vanderburg. Honorary Pallbearers will be Chapter #700 Order of the Eastern Star, as well as the First Baptist Church Deacons. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, March 1, 2015, at Bates Family Funeral Home in DeKalb, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Opportunities Inc., 6101 North Stateline Ave., Texarkana, Texas, 75501.
