George Lowrey Dies After Heart Attack -
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Elsie Free Methodist Church for Geo. Jacob Lowrey, 73, who passed away Monday night in the office of Dr. E.M. Slagh, following a heart attack. Rev. F.D. Vollen will officiate and burial will be made in Riverside Cemetery. The body rests at the Carter Funeral Home.
Mr. Lowrey, a retired farmer and prominent in the affairs of the Free Methodist Church, was Born August 19, 1879, in Ohio, the son of Robert and Katherine Lowrey. He moved to Elsie at the age of 21, and was married to Dora Nooney on March 8, 1905.
Surviving are: the widow; Two(2) Sons, Paul and Eugene of Midland; Ten(10) Grandchildren; Three(3) Brothers, Judson of Wheeler, William of North Dakota, and Eugene of Perry; Two(2) Sisters, Mrs. Martha Gould of Alma, and Mrs. Eliza Smith of St. Louis.- Newspaper Dated: April 13, 1953

George Jacob Lowrey was born August 19, 1879 near Bellevue, Ohio and died April 15, 1953 at Elsie, Michigan, aged 73 years. He moved to Wheeler, Michigan with his parents when he was about two years old. He left home at about age 20 to work for Ed Call on his farm near Chapin, Michigan, receiving $7.00 a month plus room and board. Later, after another job or two, he went to work for T.C. Nooney, near Elsie, Michigan, where he met Dora Nooney whom he married March 8, 1905. She was born July 16, 1887 on the farm near Elsie and died September 3, 1974 at Ovid, Michigan, aged 87 years. They lived most of their married lives on the family farm near Elsie which was homesteaded in 1853 by Dora's Grandfather, Hiram H. Bennett. They left the farm in 1948 and moved back into the house which they had built soon after they were first married and which had previously been moved from the farm to town(Elsie).
