Julia Ann Thompson age 89 of Pennington Gap, VA was born July 22, 1931 in Pike County, KY and passed away February 8, 2021 at Lonesome Hospital in Big Stone Gap, VA. Julia had worked for 14 years in the cafeteria at Elk Knob and Stickleyville Schools.  She was a member of the First Christian Church in Pennington Gap, VA and a member of the Pocahontas Lodge.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ireland Thompson, parents George and Annie Reed, one daughter Rena Clark, three sons Rony Clark, Randall Clark and Richard Clark, four sisters Gracie Mills, Bertha Reed, Sadie Webb and Sally Jude, seven brothers Homer Reed, Wayne Runyons, Bluford Reed, Clifford Reed, Oscar Reed, CB Reed and George Reed.

Julia is survived by one daughter Sherry Whitaker and husband, Bige of Pennington Gap, VA, two sons Danny Clark of Ocala, FL and Bruce Thompson and wife, Heather of Pikeville, KY. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and one sister Geneva Adams of Ohio.

A graveside service will be held at 12:00 noon,  Friday, February 12, 2021 at Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway, VA with Bob Richards officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 11:45 AM Friday for the service.
