From Dignity Memorial website: David Brian Barrett was born in Kirkland, WA. to Betty Rockwell and James Barrett on November 11th 1955. He was the youngest of 3 brothers: Michael (Yoncalla, OR.), Daniel*deceased (Spokane, WA), and Steve (Indiana). His family eventually moved to Long Beach, Ca. where he received his formal education. When he was just a fresh faced 22 year old with a penchant for adventure; he moved to West Virginia where he dared to work as a coal miner. He bravely mined coal for 5 years! When the thrill of mining waned he moved back to his birthplace of Washington and resided in North Bend. He loved working with his hands and being outdoors; the perfect segue way for his next adventure and career. David worked in construction on many major projects from the I-90 Mt. Baker Ridge to the most recent Sea-Tac Airport before recently retiring.

He met the love his life Lorna in 1997 and they married on Feb 13th 1999. They shared a secret silly language only they as cute married people could understand. He loved and adored her and inherited a mint with 5 kids! He was lovingly known to them as Papa David. Together they shared the company of 3 boys: Derrick (Mauri) Kent, WA., Mario (Lily) Marysville, WA., D.J. Renton, WA., and 2 girls: Kimberly (Victor) Chicago, IL., and “Lil” Lorna Virginia Beach, VA. David enjoyed spending time with his new family especially those grandkids! He took photos of them and his wife on just about every outing. The evidence of his adoration lovingly displayed on the shelves of his armoire. Ever the adventurer David loved traveling with his wife and seeing new places. They traveled to Hawaii 4 times! Visiting Waikiki, Maui, Honolulu, and Oahu. Their adventures also took them to Tahiti and Bora, Bora. Forever the social butterfly his love for people was reflected in the number of friends that he made. He loved to socialize and enjoyed fine wines and a good scotch! David was also a foodie and enjoyed trying foods from different countries. He was also a car enthusiast with a focus on fast cars and motorcycles. As an artist himself he had a passion and appreciation for art and photography and enjoyed collecting an array of pieces. His home is a vibrant reflection of his artistry.

David lived an acceptable life filled with love and respect. He faced challenges most of us face but his demeanor rarely reflected the bad. He bravely did his best to overcome his final challenge and was faithful with hope until the end. He desired that we should celebrate his life and remember him as his vivacious personable self but; that we should also appreciate his life towards the end so that we would cherish ours and those we love.

David was preceded in death by his mother and father: Betty Rockwell & James Barrett and his brother Daniel Barrett. He leaves behind his devoted wife Lorna of 22 years, his bonus children: Derrick (Mauri), Kimberly (Victor), Mario (Lillie), Lorna P, and D.J., two Brothers: Michael and Steve, three nephews: Darren, Ryan, and Matt and 1 niece: Sonia. A host of grandchildren: Mia, Celina, Kendall, Jordan, Maddie, Drew, Bryce, Chase, Justice and Bradyn, and 3 ½ great grandkids: Kelis, Khalani, Arabella, and soon to be Joseph Jr (April 2021), as well as a multitude of friends.

Scriptures: John 5:24 "Most truly I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes the One who sent me has everlasting life, and he does not come into judgement but has passed over from death to life. For just as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted also to the Son to have life in himself. And he has given him authority to do judging, because he is the Son of this man. Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, and those who practiced vile things to resurrection of judgement."

David's favorite psalm 34:4 "I inquired of Jehova, and he answered me. He rescued me from all my fears."
