Elma Colene Parker, 87 of Huntsville passed away Sunday, February 7,2021 at Countryside Assisted Living. She was born November 16, 1933 in Aurora to Hugh and Lucy (Drake) Stroud.

Colene was a member of Hindsville First Baptist Church and spent her life-giving service to the community. She held a firm belief that being an active part of the community and giving service was extremely important.

In the late 1960’s she was active in 4-H as a leader and also participated in the county fair in Ulysses, Kansas. When the family returned to Arkansas in 1970, she continued her spirit of volunteerism by continuing as a 4-H leader, working the local softball concession stand, and as a member of the Women’s Hospital Auxiliary volunteering over 1,000 hours per year several years in a row.

In the late 1970’s she became active in the Madison County Fair and helped get the Junior Livestock Premium Sale up and running. She served our county fair until recently and was a long-time emcee for the fair queen beauty pageant. She served as a board member for the District Fair as well as a board member and President of the Arkansas Fair Managers Association. She was active on the Madison County Rodeo Board, was a member of the Whitener E.H. Club and had also served at the county level for Extension Homemakers. She spent time on the county library board, and also on the district board for the Office of Human Concern. She had also dedicated many hours to the Meals on Wheels thrift store.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.L. Parker with whom she enjoyed 64 years; her parents and her two sisters.

She is survived by her son, John Parker and wife Beverly of Red Feather Lakes, Colorado; daughter, Jamie Green and husband Darral of Huntsville; grandchildren, Joshua Bowerman, Tyler Parker, Benjamin Parker, Seth Parker, Van Whitecrow, Joey Green, Hannah Parker, Rebekkah Parker, Jane Whitecrow, Marisa Dahlstrom and Amber Regier; thirteen great grandchildren; two nieces and several other family members and a host of friends.
