Gary R. McClendon of Kettering, Ohio, died at his home at the age of 75.

He was retired from General Motors after 33 years. He served in the Kentucky National Guard. He owned the County Place-Sweetwater Sweets Candy store in the Town and County Shopping Center on Stroop Road for several years. He attended Fairmont Baptist Church.

He was survived by his wife, Josephine (Huff) McClendon, (married on October 22, 1965); his son, Michael Gary McClendon of Kettering, Ohio; his brother, Phillip (and Helen) McClendon of Nancy, Kentucky; his sister, Janice (McClendon) Roy of Nancy, Kentucky; his grandchildren, Zachary Michael McClendon and Kaitlyn Marie McClendon (and Joey Jones); his great grandchildren, Thaddeus Bentley Jones and Josephine Luella Jones; his brother-in-law, Howard Huff (and Linda); his sister-in-law, Rella (Gosser) Huff; his nieces, Shana (Roy) Davis (and Bryan) and Jody (McClendon) Wilson (and Kevin); and his nephew, James Huff; and many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph McClendon and Alma (Roy) McClendon; his in-laws, Ed and Alena Huff; his brothers-in law, Herman Roy and David Huff; and his nephew, David Huff, Jr.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00am on February 11, 2021 at Newcomer Funeral Home-Kettering Chapel located at 3940 Kettering Blvd, Kettering, Ohio 45439. Funeral Service will be officiated at 11:00 am by Brother Wesley Beckner and Brother Chet Tibbets. Burial will take place at David’s Cemetery in Kettering, Ohio.
