Grew up in Berea, Ohio, and obtained a Chemical Engineering degree at Baldwin Wallace. He enlisted in the Army Air corps but served the Army in the 78 Infantry division serving in the European theater during WWII, earning a Purple Heart. After the war, he met his future wife Bobby and they were married for 70 years. The newlyweds moved to Austin Texas to attend The University of Texas where Edward earned his Ph.D. in Psychology. After an internship in Waco Texas, he began his 46 years of working for the VA Hospital in San Antonio and later Oklahoma City assuming the position of Chief of Psychology there.
