June Rose Morris, 76, of Arkansas City, died Thursday (January 19, 2017) at the Winfield Senior Living Center. Celebration of Life services are scheduled for 4:00 p.m. Saturday (January 28, 2017) at Island Park in Winfield. Cremation has been effected.
June was born April 13, 1940, in Sac City, Iowa, to Axel William Peterson and Vivian (Stacy) Peterson. She graduated from Westran High School in 1958 and later Cowley County Community College. She married William Jacoby in June of 1958, in Huntsville, Missouri, and later Jess Morris in June of 1982, at Arkansas City. June worked as a homemaker, a real estate agent, the foster grandparent program, Winfield Correctional Facility, and the Arkansas City Senior Citizen’s Center. June was a member of the Ark City Women’s Bowling Association.
Survivors include a son Michael and wife Jeanie Jacoby; a daughter Shelley Hollister; sister Joann McElwain; brother Hershel “Mickey” Peterson; grandchildren Brian and wife Nicola Jacoby, Lindsay Jacoby, Lisa Jacoby, Liz and husband Kit Carson, Kisty and husband Justin Watson, Tanner Hollister, Madison Hollister; great-grandchildren Aaron Carson, Natalia, Zane and Davian Watson; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Martin Jacoby, a brother Burnley Peterson, and a grandchild Dalton Vic Hollister.
In lieu of a memorial fund, June requested random act of kindness instead.
