Bob was always imparting sayings in his own unique style of words. Until the end, his positive outlook and sense of humor remained with him - his memories shared, funnies made, and his love abounding. Bob graduated from Idaho Falls High School in the class of 1966. On April 13, 1968, he and Catherine Winter were married in Elko, NV. Shortly afterwards, his Army National Guard unit (the 116th Combat Engineer Battalion) was called into active duty, and he proudly served in Vietnam serving a tour from August of 1968 to August of 1969. Bob loved doing renovation projects and re-doing rooms in his homes. He always was the person to come to for advice and often helped others with their projects. For many years, he worked at Bennett’s Paint and Glass and became quite meticulous in his painting craft and still remains an example of doing the job right from start to finish! Bob went on to work at the Idaho National Laboratory as a Security Guard in 1982 and impressed the upper management so much that he was promoted into a management position. He was later in charge of all of the security processes there and, after a 30 year career, retired from the INL in 2014. Bob enjoyed fishing in Island Park and floating the rivers while listening to Willie Nelson on his headphones. Though many of his proudest moments involved those spent with his family, he was always happy to share momentous occasions and adventures with all of his many close friends. Bob was a lover of good times. Some of his last ramblings were spent with Cathy in their motorhome, enjoying not only the exploring but was thrilled with all the people they met along the way that he was able to chat with. Survivors beside Cathy included: daughter, Nikki (Emery) Wells; son Mitch (Kristen) Emery; son Derek (Stasha) Emery; 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; and siblings Dennis Emery, Anet (Randall) Emery-Bargelt and John (Nola) Emery; preceded by brother James Emery and grandson Devon Emery-Jones. Memorial donations were sent to the VA Fisher House in Salt Lake City.
