Don Hodgson Perkins, 93, our loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather, passed into the loving arms of his sweetheart, Donna Mae Perkins, on Wednesday, 3 February 2021.

Don was born in Kaysville, Utah on Wednesday, 4 May 1927, to John Milton and Adeline (Hodgson) Perkins. He attended Layton Elementary, North Davis Junior and "Dear ol' Davis High" schools where he excelled in both academics and athletics. In eighth grade he met his sweetheart, Donna, and the two never looked back. They married in the Salt Lake Temple on Friday, 13 March 1946.

Don had a deep love for his country and served in the Army during WWII. After the War, Don attended the University of Utah on a track scholarship and earned a Bachelor's degree in secondary education. His great work ethic and uncanny ability to lift and love others led him to become a teacher and coach at Bountiful High School when it opened in 1951. Coaching their basketball team was one of the highlights of Don's career. He had a gift for coaching and his influence can still be felt today.

During this time, Don had also gone on to earn his Masters' degree in school administration and he then took a position as the Vice Principal at South Davis Junior High; then, he transferred back to Bountiful High where Don worked as the Vice Principal, then as Principal. Under Don's leadership, Bountiful High was named one of the top ten schools in the United States.

In 1988, Don retired after spending thirty-seven years as a coach, educator and leader. In 1995, he was honored by being inducted into the Utah High School Activites Association (UHSAA) Circle of Fame for his contributions to high school activities. The award is their highest they bestow on contributors.

Don had a great capacity to serve others, not just as an educator, but also as a City councilman, (where he was instrumental in the development of parks and recreation in Bountiful) and as a member of the Davis County Credit Union Board. For his service, Don had received several awards, including the Bountiful City Distinguished Service Award.

Don had been a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His was a deep testimony of the Gospel. He served in various capacities, from athletic director to bishop, scout leader to senior missionary alongside his wife, in the Vancouver Canadian Mission from 1992 to 1994. Don was a Christ-like example to many, as well as being a great friend, neighbor, and mentor.
