David Floyd Mercer, Jr., 76, of Tifton passed away Monday, March 25, 2019, at Tift Regional Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 28, 2019, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Matthew Schluckebier officiating. Mr. Mercer will be laid to rest at a later date. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 28, 2019, at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service. The family will be meeting at 402 12th Street East in Tifton.
Born December 31, 1942 in Waycross, Mr. Mercer was the son of the late David Floyd Mercer Sr. and Veatrice Fales Mercer. Before retiring, he was the manager of various grocery stores and a salesman for Martha White Foods. He was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Mercer is survived by his wife, Vivian Storey Mercer of Tifton; two daughters and a son-in-law, April and Rev. Matthew Schluckebier and Doris Renee Sizemore, all of Tifton; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Wayne and Laura Mercer and Larry Mercer, all of Waycross; two sisters, Gloria Ruth Rollins of Waycross and Norma Jean Mathis of Jesup; three grandchildren, Lakin Sizemore, Lauren McClellan (Jay) and Adah Grace Schluckebier; and two great-grandchildren, Raegan McClellan and Ross Thomas McClellan.
