Mike Roberts
Steven Michael Roberts better known as "Mike" put his boots on for the last time Tuesday, February 2, 2021. He was sixty-five.
There will be a CELEBRATION OF LIFE, 3:00 p.m., Friday, February 12th, 2021 at the ADA ELKS LODGE.
Mike had made his home in Stonewall, OK and after thirty years he retired from the USDA as an Agriculture Loan Supervisor. His retirement years were spent raising cattle and training cutting horses, incorporating the use of buffalo. His methods never failed to draw interest across several states.
Born in Ada on November 16th, 1955, Mike grew up on the old Brick Plant Road and attended Latta School. Graduating from Latta in 1974, Mike went on to continue his education at Oklahoma State University where he received his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture as well as earning his teaching certificate in 1979.
Throughout his life Mike competed across the country in rodeo sporting events. His horsemanship led him to win championships in NCHA (National Championship Horse Association) and SOCHA (Southern Oklahoma Champion Horse Association). One of his proudest moments was winning the 1993 National Finals Championship in Team penning with his brother, Tommy Roberts.
Mike was known for his "worn and torn" cowboy charm.
He is survived by his college sweetheart and wife, Jacque; his daughter, Sage, who he believed to be his greatest accomplishment; his parents, Joe and Lois Roberts of Ada; brother, Tommy Roberts of Roff; sister, Brenda Bolin of Fitzhugh; brothers, Jay Roberts of Tulsa and Justin Roberts of Fitzhugh; there are also numerous nieces and nephews, including their children.
The family has asked that in lieu of flowers that donations be sent to:
