Dorothy was born on June 26, 1940, in Fort Worth, Texas to Virgil Leon and Ruby Mae Hawkins Trussell. Dorothy married John in April 1964 and they enjoyed 52 years together before his passing in 2017.
Their children and grandchildren were a great source of joy for Dorothy. Working many years as an office assistant and cashier, Dorothy took the most pride in her role as wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister. Dorothy enjoyed cooking, traveling, telling stories, watching Hallmark movies, visiting with her grandsons, seeing her granddaughter dance, and laughing. She had the best laugh resulting in everyone around her joining in on the fun. Her smile could light up any room. Dorothy shared an unbreakable bond with her three sisters and together they instilled the importance of family to us all. Often described as sweet and kind, her family would also say that she was gentle, yet lovingly strong. Although she is gone from this earth, she will never be forgotten. Part of her will forever live on in all the family and friends she has known through the years. Dorothy has now gained her angel wings and is rejoicing in heaven.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Arnold Stone; son, Allen A. Stone; parents, Vergil Leon and Ruby Mae Trussell.
Survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Leslie Renee and Kevin Cain; granddaughter, Payton Cain; daughter-in-law, Stacy Stone Martin; grandsons, Christopher and Jeffrey Stone; sisters, Wanda Mays and husband, Jerry, Francine Bagwell and husband, Mike, and Peggy Trussell; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and numerous other family members and friends.
