Mollie Diehl Bender grew up in Northumberland PA where she studied piano and voice. After marrying Charlie in 1951, she joined him during his Air Force service in Ohio, Texas, Colorado, and California. They started their family in Pennsylvania, moving from Chambersburg to Lansdale, then to Baltimore and Bowie MD.

In addition to raising a family, Mollie worked at the Social Security and Food and Drug Administrations and as a teacher's aide at St. Matthew's Preschool in Bowie. Blessed with a song in her heart and lovely soprano voice, Mollie was always active in church choirs and chorales, including Bowie's Sweet Adelines, the Univ. of Maryland Chorus, and Bowie Senior Chorale. The residents at the Rosewood and The Laurels senior-living homes in Charlottesville VA greatly enjoyed Mollie's voice at singalong programs and Church services.

Last August, our family was blessed to help Mollie celebrate her 90th birthday, with Covid-safe window visits, a 12-foot banner, beautiful cake, and family video greetings!

She is survived by her three children, Beth Friedmann (Greg), Linda Boyle (Chuck), and Skip Bender; grandchildren Alex Bender (Pauline), Glenn and Hannah Bender, Kelly and Michael Friedmann, and Eileen Boyle; and great-grandchildren, Cordelia and William Bender.
