Bobbie Jean Terry was born August 12, 1937 in IXL, Oklahoma.  She was the sixth child born to L.M. and Susie Terry. She attended elementary school in Davenport, Oklahoma and graduated from Douglass High School, Class of 1955, in Chandler, Oklahoma.  She accepted Christ at a young age, attending Little Zion East Baptist Church in Davenport under the leadership of Rev. John Lacy.

She married Elmerece Long in 1958 and to this 62-year union, five children were born.  Bobbie had two career paths in life, teaching and nursing. Due to her love for children and teaching, she served as a classroom teacher and later as an administrator for the Pathways Montessori Child Development Center.   Early in her nursing career, she was a nurse’s aide at St. Anthony Hospital before returning to school to become an LPN.  She retired from the Oklahoma City VA Medical Center after years of dedicated service.

She loved serving and giving back to her community.  She volunteered at the Garden Oaks Community Action Program, donating her time to church and causes that benefited those in need. She was dedicated to service for the less fortunate. She left an example for her family and friends how to “love thy neighbor.” She nursed the sick, she fed the hungry, and she housed those in need. She loved her family and her church. Her hobbies and interests were gardening, fresh flowers, traveling, quilting, cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Bobbie joined St. John Christian Methodist Church under the leadership of Rev. Curtiss Long and continued as a member until her death.  She loved the church and worked in many auxiliaries over the years.  She was active in Sunday School, Missionary Society, Senior and Missionary Choir, Class Leader, and Stewardess.
